The Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film reported that of the top 250 domestic grossing films of 2016, women represented a meager 7 percent of directors, 13 percent of writers, and 5 percent of cinematographers. This year’s Women in Production Summit tackles the issue of gender inequity in the film industry by giving women in Atlanta the opportunity to come together, network and “make Georgia the most diverse and women-friendly market in the country.” Hosted by organizations like Women in Film & Television Atlanta and Atlanta Film Society, the summit will include talks by Judith Williams, the Global Head of Diversity for Dropbox, as well as Lydia Dean Pilcher, who produced films like Queen of Katwe and The Immortal Lives of Henrietta Lacks. The event will close by bringing together the women of television and film in Georgia with a networking mixer.
