Come watch the Tibetan Buddhist monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery construct a Mandala Sand Painting from Sunday, November 19th through Sunday, November 26th at Unity North Atlanta in Marietta.
During this week, the monks will be creating the sacred Akshobhya Buddha mandala sand painting. The Akshobhya Buddha (“The Unmovable One”) is one of the five Wisdom Buddhas. He represents the “unshakable victor for conflict resolution and peace.” Akshobhya Buddha was also created after the September 11th tragedy in Washington D.C., as was recommended by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This particular mandala is used in times of great stress and danger.
All are welcome to witness the sacred work taking place each day of the week from noon to 7, or to attend the opening ceremony on the 19th at 2 p.m, the dharma talk on Wednesday night the 22nd at 7:30 p.m., and/or the closing ceremony on the 26th at 2 p.m.
