J.R. Robinson founded and heads up Wrekmeister Harmonies but the Chicago-based outfit’s lineup is far from concrete. The rotating roster most recently totaled to 30 names for November’s Night of Your Ascension (Thrill Jockey), including credits such as Marissa Nadler and Chip King from the Body. Night showcases the enormous team effort’s darting talents through dark, atmospheric vocal parfaits and an all-around gloomy metallic taste. It isn’t a casual listen — instead, anticipate a brooding saga come to life. Robinson takes the set to the Earl Fri., Feb. 26, with Esther Shaw and the Bell Witch duo providing instrumentation.
