Wednesday September 21, 2016 08:00 PM EDT
Cost: $20-$89

From the venue:

Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto No. 3” is known for inspiring fear in pianists who attempt to master its labyrinthine notation. The concerto weaves through a patchwork of moody textures, brooding motifs, and dramatic climaxes. Renowned pianist Garrick Ohlsson and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will take on the challenge in addition to performances of John Adams’ “Tromba lontana” and Sibelius’ “Symphony No. 5.” The performance kicks off the ASO’s Delta Classical Series, which includes an eclectic roster of concerts featuring Sir Edward Elgar’s “Sea Pictures” and Antonin Dvořák’s “Symphony From the New World.”
