From the venue:

Abdu Ali has been transforming Baltimore clubs for years by giving purpose to the party with a hypnotic concoction of spoken word, activism, hip-hop, noise, and electronic beats. Ali calls his latest release, Mongo, a “blk care mixtape.” Like a storm unleashed, the mixtape moves a crowd with a stunning mix of songs that provoke ecstatic nights of dancing. And with lyrics inspired by Freddie Grey’s death while in police custody, and his own personal experiences, Ali leaves listeners deep in thought long after the music has ended. Ali brings The Black Light Tour, along with Joy Postell, to South Downtown as part of the nine-day arts festival Elevate: Microcosm.
