The Chicago-based co-founder of long-standing experimental pop outfit the Sea and the Cake, Sam Prekop took a surprising turn to analog synthesizer music on his tellingly titled 2010 solo album, Old Punch Card. Prekop followed that with more of the same, only slightly different, on this year’s home-recorded The Republic.
