Join the City of Hapeville at the Christ Church & Carriage House in Jess Lucas Y-Teen Park for the second installment of the 2025 Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers Spring Series—a FREE screening of This World is Not My Own.

Blending traditional documentary storytelling with animation and dramatization, this film explores the life and art of Nellie Mae Rowe, a self-taught Black artist from Georgia. Emmy-winning actress Uzo Aduba brings an animated version of Rowe to life as the film dives into Rowe's creative journey, struggles against racial and gender barriers and her long-overdue recognition in the art world. 

The evening kicks off with a 6 p.m. pre-screening reception featuring complimentary food, beverages and live music, followed by the 7 p.m. screening and a post-film Q&A with the filmmakers.
