Stephen Kellogg, Smith's Olde Bar - Whether solo or with his band "The Sixers," Connecticut-based troubadour Kellogg has been active on the Americana landscape for a quarter-century. His most recent entry to a long and winding catalog is To you, old friend (specifically not capitalizing those last three words) whose concept is examining friendship from different angles. The music is rootsy enough to match his everyman voice, but the lyrics are touching and often beautifully expressed descriptions of people that have drifted through his life. One of the set's finest selections is a piano based cover of Bob Dylan's "Buckets of Rain," sung with even more soul and feeling than the original. Kellogg's a consummate professional which makes each show unique and enticing. - Hal Horowitz

For more than two decades, this wordsmith, TEDx speaker, stand-up comic, and author has delighted audiences around the world. This time he’s joined by a full band as they count down to Stephen’s 3,000th performance. Backed by a powerhouse ensemble featuring members of his long-time touring operation The Sixers, he will serve up a musical retrospective that spans 14 albums and 25 years. Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz says of Kellogg, “There are few people in rock n’ roll who are just so great.” His latest release “To you, old friend.” features Lori McKenna, Javier Colon, Chad Stokes of Dispatch, Danny Black of Good Old War and Duritz himself.
