Javelias & Monique Osorio at The Oddities Museum
CRITIC’S PICK
Sat., Oct. 11
I have not yet visited The Oddities Museum in Chamblee, which I’ve been meaning to do, so I’m looking forward to using the best excuse possible to make it happen tomorrow (Saturday) when Javelinas performs with special guest Monique Osorio.
Scott Burland and Ryan Klee P. Taylor are Javelinas, a collaboration between theremin and synth/guitar, which conjures up ambient soundscapes and adventures in discordance. Osorio is a vocalist whose range of expression and imaginative application of her instrument never cease to astonish.
The evening’s concert is free, but entrance to The Oddities Museum is $10, which seems like a fair price for a showcase of weird stuff including creepy dolls and skeletons, otherworldy taxidermy, haunting clown statues, scary wetworks, fish trophies, devil masks, medical specimens, horror props, original art and so much more. – Doug DeLoach
