River Shook
CRITIC'S PICK:
Fri., April 10
River Shook, Eddie Owens Presents at Red Clay - The artist formerly known as Sarah has been crafting their own brand of tough, unapologetically raw outlaw country/Americana, aided by the Disarmers band, with little concern of watering it down for commercial viability. Shook is now a solo artist but with an often sneering, throaty, emotionally vibrant voice that even without a full group's support reflects someone who takes no crap. Expect stripped-down versions of songs such as "Mother*ucker" and the less aggressive "Nightingale" from the impressively torchy Revelations 2024, plus new tunes from what will likely be a forthcoming album under Shook's own moniker. - Hal Horowitz
