WOMEN OF NO WORDS ATL 2.0 - Thursday Feb 12th
Women of No Words 2.0 is happening Thursday, February 12th at The Waiting Room, a "hidden gem" venue located at 674 Myrtle Street NE (above Bon Ton). Doors open at 6:30 PM with music starting at 7:00 PM.
Women of No Words 2.0 showcases Atlanta’s premier instrumental talent, featuring:
- Ipek Eginli: A Turkish/American classically trained pianist who specializes in electroacoustic improvisations and modular synths. Ipek tours extensively across Europe and the U.S., averaging 60 concerts annually and releasing acclaimed albums like Clouds Carry Me to the Sky.
- Dr. Al-Yasha Ilhaam Williams: Chair of Philosophy at Spelman College is also an experimental multi-instrumentalist and co-founder of Atlanta Improvisors Orchestra. Al-Yasha blends academic research on black aesthetics with modular synthesis, guitar, and vocal improvisation.
- Dr. Paula Van Goes: is a classical saxophonist, and Selmer-Paris Artist recognized for her virtuosity as a soloist and chamber musician. She has shared the stage with Branford Marsalis while performing as a soloist with the Orquestra Sinfônica do Teatro Nacional Claudio Santoro. She frequently performs with music and mixed media in works such as “Of Dreams and Nightmares" and collaborates frequently with “Movers and Musicians” dance and music workshops
- Ana Balka is an Atlanta-based multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. A long-time figure in the local scene, she has performed with JJ and the Hustlers, The White Lights, and Murray Attaway. Her work includes solo albums like Eight Tracks and collaborative cinematic projects with Aileen Loy and Deisha Oliver as Joyce, Inc.
- Airamas is a multi-instrumentalist, artist and film composer. Born In New York, Airamas first performed under the name Samaria. She uses percussive electric guitar and looping pedals for improvised performances. Founded in 2021 by Ann Wood, No Words ATL is recognized as the world’s only instrumental music festival.
