Bj Barham Of American Aquarium
CRITIC'S PICK:
Tues., March 10
B.J. Barham, Eddie's Attic - As frontman/primary songwriter for the popular Americana band American Aquarium, Barham already has an outlet for his material. But in 2020, he delivered Rockingham, a more subtle, stripped-down and largely acoustic set that focused attention on Barham's words and voice, both of which tend to get lost in his band's louder, more aggressive stance. It wasn't quite his Nebraska moment, but there are elements to that comparison. These solo shows (two on the same night) alternate with AA's bigger gigs as he and the band hit the road this spring. Since neither he nor the group have new music, you'll hear a smattering of songs from 20 years of releases, played with the intimacy that one guy with a guitar in a small club brings. - Hal Horowitz
