2026 African Film Festival Atlanta Shorts Program 4: "Dying for Water" (Day 3)
From the venue:
"Dying"
In the sun-scorched village of Wura Yaya in northern Nigeria, water is not merely a resource, it is a daily battle, a source of heartbreak, and a fragile lifeline that barely holds life together. Here lives Fatsuma, a mother whose strength has been forged in the fires of unimaginable loss. She knows the cost of this crisis more intimately than anyone. Her youngest child drowned in one of the village’s crudely dug, unstable wells, a tragedy that has claimed far too many young lives in this parched land.
About African Film Festival Atlanta:
The African Film Festival Atlanta (AFFATL), powered by the African Film & Arts Foundation Inc. (AFAF), is pleased to announce its official film selection and ticket sales for its 5th edition, taking place from March 26th - 20th, 2026. This year promises five days of unforgettable stories, powerful voices, and cinematic excellence from Africa and the diaspora.
This year's theme, “CTRL + CULTURE = AFRICA'S NEXT CINEMA CODE”, reflects the evolving language of African storytelling in a digital, globalized world. It highlights the powerful intersection of culture, creativity, and technology as filmmakers across the continent and diaspora reimagine and take control of how African stories are told, created, shared, and experienced.
