About this Event Presser Hall, PR-Gaines Chapel 141 East College Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030 “Heritage and Harmony” Join us for an inspiring afternoon of orchestral music as the Agnes Scott College Community Orchestra presents Heritage and Harmony, a program exploring musical heritage across centuries and cultures. From the Baroque brilliance of Johann Sebastian Bach to the lyrical charm of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and the dramatic flair of Manuel de Falla, this concert celebrates the rich diversity and enduring power of the orchestral tradition. Under the artistic direction of Qiao Chen Solomon, the program highlights masterworks that reflect both historical legacy and vibrant cultural expression. A special feature of the concert will be Johann Sebastian Bach’s beloved Double Violin Concerto, performed by violinists Qiao Chen Solomon and Simón Gollo. Audiences will also experience the elegant melodies of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Petite Suite de Concert, the fiery energy of Manuel de Falla’s Ritual Fire Dance, and the dramatic intensity of Beethoven’s Leonore Overture. Together, these works create a compelling musical journey that bridges time, place, and cultural heritage. Under the baton of Dr. Qiao Chen Solomon, the Agnes Scott Community Orchestra (ASCCO) is the largest instrumental ensemble on campus. The orchestra consists of Agnes Scott College students, community musicians, and ASC artist affiliates who are dedicated to rehearsing and performing a high standard of orchestral repertoire that represents a wide range of styles. The college-community nature of the ensemble size provides a valuable orchestral experience for instrumentalists from a variety of musical backgrounds and interests.
