Atlanta Shakespeare Company presents The Comedy of Errors
Thu., Aug. 6 - Sat., Sep. 5
CRITIC’S PICK:
August Threepeat: Comedy of Errors, Taming of the Shrew & Twelfth Night in Repertory, Shakespeare Tavern — Three Shakespearean comedies from the past year are being staged again at the Tavern during the month of August. The Comedy of Errors, directed by Adam King, will have performances on August 6, 9, 15, 21, 27, 30 and Sep. 5. It alternates with Richard Frawley's The Taming of the Shrew on Aug. 7, 13, 16, 22, 28 and Sep. 3. Twelfth Night, under the direction of Mary Ruth Ralston, will roll out on Aug. 8, 14, 20, 23, 29 and Sep. 4. The Bard’s comedies tend to have several elements in common: gender disguises, mistaken identities, avoidance of reality, rampant wooing accompanied by awkward love entanglements and of course, witty dialogue. Much hilarity is guaranteed. — Kevin C. Madigan
From the venue:
Part of the August Threepeat repertory. Two sets of twins, one case of mistaken identity, and a nun walk onto the stage. The Comedy of Errors takes Shakespearean funny to slap-happy heights in a tale of merchant twins Antipholus and their attendant twins Dromio.Featuring
