Over minimal production, the song is crafted by Triangle Park and Mustapha, Inayah’s raw and pained vocals are front and center as she sings, “But if I’m the one for you, then how you gon’ make me pick between the two? / Don’t ever make me choose, ’cause what if I don’t choose you?”
Reflecting on the recording process, Inayah reveals, “I was actively going through all seven stages of grief while recording. I went through anger, regret, acceptance, and forgiveness to name a few. I was getting everything off my chest in real time.”
