Daler Mehndi
Daler Mehndi is a pioneering Indian singer and performer credited with popularizing Bhangra and Indian pop music on a global scale. Known for his vibrant stage presence, signature turban, and energetic dance tracks, he became a cultural icon in the 1990s. Born in Patna and rooted in a Punjabi Sikh tradition, he formed his own group in 1991 and gained international recognition after winning the Voice of Asia contest in 1994. Despite legal controversies, including a 2018 conviction later suspended, Mehndi remains a significant figure in Indian music.
