Like any of the other brand-name-discount-stores - T.J. Maxx, Ross, and their ilk - Marshalls tends to be hit or miss. It depends on how nice a neighborhood it’s in, what time of the year it is, and how much or little the employees care about things being in order. The Marshalls tucked away at the back of a shopping center on Peachtree Road in Buckhead is either staffed by people who care or overseen by a manager who makes sure they care, because this place (at least the shoes) are in order and the selection is fantastic. By which we mean, “on-trend.” By which we mean, “not last year’s or last season’s crappy stock.” (Although there’s some of that on the clearance rack - minus the crappy part.) Known for carrying high-end brands at low-end prices, T.J. MAXX should be on every bargain-hunting fashionista’s hit list. The designer-label section is stocked with A-list brands including Miu Miu and Prada, and the markdown on those items is significant. Though you probably won’t be walking out of the store with a Vivienne Tam dress for less than $100, it’s still a steal at $160 — $440 cheaper than retail. What you will find on the super-cheap are $80 Joe’s jeans — that’s half price! — and $60 Coach sandals — a $100 discount! As with all bargain shopping, T.J. Maxx can be hit or miss. Despite its location in a drab strip shopping center off the beaten path in the suburban jumble of Sandy Springs, FANTASTIC FINDS delivers the goods, fashion-wise. The modestly appointed consignment shop is filled with pre-owned jackets, skirts and little black dresses from such hot labels as Marc Jacobs, Manolo Blahnik, Bebe and Chloe, as well as samples and close-outs from top designers and high-end stores.
