There has been no single Atlanta blues artist who is a more doggedly committed road warrior than Tinsley Ellis. This year started with a hometown show on the day of his new Winning Hand album release and he hasn’t stopped since. From the dingiest of blues clubs to large and small festivals - even the classy Big Blues Bender in Las Vegas - if there’s a stage Ellis plays it, meets and greets fans, and moves on to the next city. And he’s been at it for the past three decades, all the while releasing a steady stream of albums. If anyone has earned the title of highwayman, not coincidentally the name of his 2005 live disc, it’s Ellis.
