Atlanta's Latest Dance Craze Goes Viral

Check out Atlanta's latest dance craze: the Nae Nae.

Back in 2006, just about every song coming out of Atlanta had a dance to go along with it. From the "lean with it, rock with it" to the countless "crack that" dances it was tough to resist breaking out in song and dance.

Rappers like Soulja Boy and Dem Franchize Boyz came on the scene with their repetitive lyrics and simple dance moves and the movement was irresistible. But like all trends, the snap music era seemed to fade away as rappers like Gucci Mane, T.I. and Young Jeezy popularized a grittier genre of Atlanta sound known as trap music.

From the looks of it, trap music is here to stay. The hip-hop subgenre has spread far beyond the perimeter and has been accepted with open arms. But that's not to say that somewhere in Atlanta someone isn't "jigging" or doing the "Poole Palace." In fact, there's a couple new dance crazes flooding the city.

The "Nae Nae" and the "hol' up" dances have taken over Atlanta and Youtube with over 150,000 videos collectively. Both have sparked a slew of homemade videos and Vines of teens showing off their best moves.

The "Nae Nae" dance and song ("Drop That NaeNae") were created by Superbad Inc and WeAreToonz. Check out their tutorial for the dance here.
