Two-9 sign to Mike WiLL Made It's Interscope imprint
Its new deal arrives as they prep a Taylor Gang collab, debut album
Earlier this summer, producer Mike WiLL Made It showed up to Two 9's last show of its first-ever headlining tour. While Mike WiLL's surprise appearance at the Loft made sense - he had featured the rowdy hip-hop collective's fighting anthem "Everything" in his 2013 mixtape, #MikeWiLLBeenTrill - it also hinted of his next move. Shortly after signing Tupelo, Miss., hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd to his Interscope imprint Ear Druma, Mike WiLL decided to add Two 9 to that same roster.
Two 9 had just premiered its "Everything" video July 25 at El Bar, then worldwide a few days later. The group shot the clip at Atlanta Zombie Apocalypse, the Conley, Ga., paintball-meets-Walking Dead venue, in between sessions with Wiz Khalifa's Taylor Gang for a joint mixtape, Two.GOD. Two-9 has also been planning to release a debut album, though don't expect it to drop anytime soon. Shortly after its Loft show, I asked Two-9's Curtis Williams and Jace when fans can expect it. They paused.
"Shit," Williams said. "That says enough. If you can tell by the silence, we don't fucking know. We have no fucking clue. We never planned to do an album and stuff, so now we're just catching up. "
Until Two-9 catches up, check out the group's "Everything" video below.
