Adrian Barrera joins Those Darlins

Atlanta expat Adrian Barrera lands new gig playing bass with Those Darlins

Former Atlanta musician Adrian Barrera (Barreracudas, Gentleman Jesse and His Men) moved to Nashville just in time to land a pretty sweet gig playing bass for Those Darlins.

?
Barrera is the latest to fill the shoes of founding member Kelley Anderson, who left the group in early 2012, and has since formed a new band, Grand Strand. This is the first time Barrera has served as a band’s full-time bass player, although he has filled in on the instrument live a few times for Gentleman Jesse.

The band’s latest lineup change comes on the heels of studio time as well. Those Darlins are gearing up to record the group’s third studio album with Nashville producer/engineer Roger Moutenot (Yo La Tengo, Sleater-Kinney). “We’re recording a new album in a few weeks,” Barrera said. “It’s pretty outstanding material, a lot more intense than any of their previous stuff.”

Barrera’s new bandmates are no strangers to him or to Atlanta. Those Darlins toured with Gentleman Jesse in September 2010, and have played here numerous times, including an April 2010 Record Store Day appearance at Criminal Records captured in the above video.
