Ludachrist prove mash-ups aren't Cheap
The ATL-reppin' Ludachrist make electro-tinged mash-ups that put Girl Talk to shame.
With Girl Talk’s new album getting the Internet in a collective tizzy, people are talking about mash-ups again like its 2008. But while Girl Talk feels like he’s just doing the same old thing with new samples at this point, Ludachrist have proven that the mash-up still has some life left in it with their new album Talk Is Cheap.

Ludachrist is a side project from ex-ATLer Knick (of the drum & bass group Evol Intent) and electro producer Kill the Noise. The duo makes fiercely danceable mash-ups with an electro-tinge that gives them a fresh sound. On the album, Lil Jon raps over the Eagles (!), Darude’s “Sandstorm” meets Metallica’s “Sandman,” and the group manages to make Soulja Boi’s “Crank That” bearable again, which is nothing short of a miracle from the semi-blasphemously named group.

With shout outs from Lil Jon and Slick Rick on the new album, these guys are showing up on some big people’s radars. Their first album album, Bangfest, and a Zelda-sampling EP that were well-received by the blogosphere. DJ and Blackberry spokesman Diplo even controversially (look at the comments) used their mash-up of Major Lazer’s ‘Pon De Floor” and the Beverly Hills Cop theme song in the video game DJ Hero 2.

It seems like Talk Is Cheap might have gone under a lot of people’s radar’s since it was released on Halloween, but this is not one to sleep on. Listen to Ludachrist the next time you wanna listen to Girl Talk. You’ll feel better about yourself.
