?NOTED ACTS?
?DEKE DEAN’S ROCKABILLY OPEN MIC NIGHT — Crooner/guitarist Dean (formerly of Blue Avenue) heads up the new Tuesday evening open mic action at the Tavern. He’ll play a brief set with his own jumpin’ band, and will then yield the stage to any guest artists who’d care to sit in. Northside Tavern (Nicoll)

EXPO2000 See article. 40 Watt Club/Athens (Smith)

TIGHT BROS. FROM WAY BACK WHEN, SOME SOVIET STATION — The “Way Back When” in the Tight Bros. name probably refers to the period between the Stooges demise and the birth of AC/DC. In fact, the singer is probably one of Brian Johnson’s forgotten offspring. The rock, they roll. If it’s your bag, eat up. While wound-up thrashing rock with doses of math and emo played by young men isn’t the most novel concept, it must be admitted that locals Some Soviet Station do a damn good job producing it. Question is, are they really challenging themselves? Eyedrum (Foy)
