?NOTED ACTS?
?DEKE DEAN'S ROCKABILLY OPEN MIC NIGHT — Crooner/guitarist Dean (formerly of Blue Avenue) heads up the new Tuesday evening open mic action at the Tavern. He'll play a brief set with his own jumpin' band, and will then yield the stage to any guest artists who'd care to sit in. Northside Tavern (Nicoll)
EXPO2000 — See article. 40 Watt Club/Athens (Smith)
TIGHT BROS. FROM WAY BACK WHEN, SOME SOVIET STATION — The "Way Back When" in the Tight Bros. name probably refers to the period between the Stooges demise and the birth of AC/DC. In fact, the singer is probably one of Brian Johnson's forgotten offspring. The rock, they roll. If it's your bag, eat up. While wound-up thrashing rock with doses of math and emo played by young men isn't the most novel concept, it must be admitted that locals Some Soviet Station do a damn good job producing it. Question is, are they really challenging themselves? Eyedrum (Foy)
