NOTED ACTS

BENEFIT FOR THE ATLANTA WOMEN'S FEMINIST CHORUS --Attic favorites Kristen Hall, Weaklazyliar, Michelle Martin and Uncle Mark Reynolds all band together and raise their voices to benefit the Atlanta Women's Feminist Chorus. Any of these acts could easily headline the club, so come early as this show is sure to sell out and raise some awareness and spirits. This year the AWFC is celebrating its 20th anniversary of performing pieces which celebrate women and music. A select subset of the Chorus will also perform. Eddie's Attic (Smith)

COL. BRUCE HAMPTON & THE CODE TALKERS — Local music institution and weird uncle to many a latter-day jam band, Hampton and his new group the Code Talkers debut music from their upcoming CD at tonight's show. Smith's Olde Bar (Sarig)

DRIVE-INVASION — Johnny Legend hosts another afternoon of bands and barbecue, with B-movies on the big screen following the live performances. Today's music includes the grrrl rock of Catfight!, the garage bomp of the Subsonics, the raucous rockabilly of the Belmont Playboys, the retro '70s punk of the X-Impossibles, the Sicky antics of Syryp, the rollicking raunch 'n' roll of Lust and the Wagnerian theatrics of Gargantua (featuring former members of Super X-13). See Earshot. Starlight Six Drive-In (Nicoll)

MICROWAVE DAVE & THE NUKES — Touring in support of his fresh release, Wouldn't Lay My Guitar Down, guitarist/vocalist Microwave Dave Gallagher is based in Huntsville, Ala., these days but has a local history, having played in classic local clubs such as the Royal Peacock and Auburn Avenue Casino in the mid-'60s. Expect straight-ahead, well-chosen blues and R&B (á la Bobby Bland, Elmore James, Bo Diddley, Johnny Shines. B.B. King, Jimmy Reed) from this Nuke-lier trio, delivered with burly, growling vocals and distorted guitar tones. Chip's/Winder (Powell)

MONTREUX ATLANTA MUSIC FESTIVAL — See article. Free performances today include: Sophia Darcell (2 p.m.); Afro Blue (3 p.m.); Stereo Popsicle (4 p.m.; see separate menu); Joi (5 p.m.; see Earshot; Fishbone (6 p.m.; see article); Kelis (7 p.m.); Mos Def (8 p.m.); Steel Pulse (9 p.m.; see review). Piedmont Park (Sarig)

STEREO POPSICLE — Trina Meade lets the funk drip off her Popsicle and onto whoever will listen today at the Montreux Festival. Currently working on a new album, she and her hard-riffin' gang of rock outlaws ride into Montreux to debut some new tunes and a slightly revamped look for the band. Expect some old favorites, of course, but with this heavy-duty Popsicle gang, prepare to be rocked elegantly. Piedmont Park (Smith)

ELISE WITT — Billed as a concert of "Global, Local & Homemade Songs," this show reflects local singer-songwriter Witt's interest in international music. Besides featuring self-penned tunes, her set frequently includes works from various far-flung locales and talents. Witt's biggest asset though is her consummate professionalism and stunningly beautiful voice. The Gazebo/Pine Lake (Robertson)
