TUES/NOVEMBER 14
Noted acts
TERRY ALLEN — Annoyingly talented, Terry Allen is at home sculpting, painting or writing. But at this gig, the Texas-bred musician will be singing the songs from his dozen or so albums — rambling, piano-based country tunes that leave you standing on a roadside in the middle of nowhere, shadows of mountains rising in the distance. This will follow a lecture Allen is giving at the Georgia Museum of Art. Who knows what he's got planned after the show. Georgia Theater/Athens (Allen)
DEKE DEAN'S ROCKABILLY OPEN MIC — Tonight's a great evening to come see why the Northside Tavern was lauded so lavishly in last month's "Best of" issue. Host/emcee Dean now has scene veteran Tom Laubenthal pounding the drums for him, and you never know which other local luminaries (or even complete bands) may drop by to sit in for a couple of songs. Northside Tavern (Nicoll)
JOAN OSBORNE — See Week at a Glance. Variety Playhouse (Horowitz)
KEITH SWEAT — New jack swing attempts a comeback as late-'80s R&B-popster Keith Sweat celebrates the release of his seventh CD, Didn't See Me Coming, with this free concert. Tickets are available by purchasing the CD or by winning them on V103. Atlanta Civic Center (Sarig)
PINCHAS ZUKERMAN — Long before today's classical musicians started tie-dying their hair, superstar violinist Pinchas Zukerman married sultry starlet Tuesday Weld and rode motorcycles — the embodiment of classical cool. Along the way he teamed with Daniel Barenboim, Itzhak Perlman and Jacqueline du Pre, making chamber music history. More history will be made when Zukerman brings new friends, such as pianist Yefim Bronfman, to play old friends such as Mozart and Schubert. Glenn Memorial Auditorium (Brown)
