For a moment, “the” bands were the rage: the Strokes, the White Stripes, the the the the the. Recently, we’ve been enjoying the rise of ridiculously long band names. In celebration of all names long, we present our five favorite band names that are phrases. P.S.: Our selections have absolutely no regard for the kind of music each band makes, we just like the names.

1) And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead ...: A name so long, it requires punctuation that implies it continues.

2) Say Hi to Your Mom: Moms sure do like to be called for no reason. This band’s name doubles as sage advice.

3) Clap Your Hands Say Yeah: Yeah! Unless you’re an unlucky stiff who didn’t get a ticket for the sold-out March 10 show. Then, boo.

4) I Would Set Myself on Fire for You: Generally, folks prefer flowers to melting flesh, but to each one’s own.
