How many movies have incited a fan to try to kill a president in hopes of attracting a young starlet? Well, we only know of one, Martin Scorsese’s TAXI DRIVER, which screens AUG.27-28. Robert De Niro plays a psycho Vietnam vet who, while working as a taxi driver, tries to free a young prostitute (Jodie Foster) from the murderous grips of her pimp (Harvey Keitel). Course, they all look a little funny, since they’re, oh, 28 years younger than they are now, but frankly, it’s easy to see what got John Hinkley Jr. all wound up: Jodie Foster in hot pants. $6.
