Gwinnett officers go on sale

Police officers in Lawrenceville, Duluth and Norcross are selling themselves. Don’t worry. It’s legal.
“Gwinnett’s Finest,” a bachelor’s auction at Winfield Hall in Norcross Nov. 9, is expected to raise $6,300 for children’s safety programs and new police equipment.
“We’ve got 21 officers, and we’re hoping to get about $300 for each of them,” says Mary Ann Lewis, whose company is organizing the sale. She says she originally had some concerns about the bachelors overcoming their shyness to solicit big money. But, at the first rehearsal, the officers seemed used to “working it.”
Date packages up for bid include tickets to see Hootie and the Blowfish and Cowboy Mouth, among others, as well as a trip way out of jurisdiction to Harrah’s Casino in North Carolina.
