Is there something about Florida that makes people stupid?
Pete, Atlanta:
It's the culture. The emphasis is not on education or being smart but whether you're going water skiing, fishing or getting a new boat. Florida is for newlyweds and nearly-deads. In New England and Boston the emphasis is all on what school you're going to. I went to the University of Miami for a year and scuba diving was a four-credit course. It's just the lifestyle in Florida but don't ask anyone about a constitutional issue.
SARAH, ATLANTA:
I'm from Florida. It's kind of embarrassing but I'm from the Panhandle. All that stuff is in South Florida. We're kind of country and they're [South Floridians] kind of old. But this could happen in any state and the media would make assholes out of them. I want you to know I filled out my absentee ballot and I didn't mess up. I now feel a part of the system, totally. My vote really counts. It's cool.
RICHARD, ATLANTA:
There is a high degree of Alzheimer's. One of my grandparents has Alzheimer's disease and she lives in South Florida. She has a heart of gold, but she can get confused sometimes. It's possible they mistook the line at the ballot booth for the line at Disney World. Did you ever see a thousand old people play bingo and they're yelling at the bingo caller because he's calling the numbers too fast?
