GET UP, GET ON UP: The downtown of the future already seems to reside on top of French American Brasserie, where the rooftop bar is all the things we hope the area will become: modern, elegant and usable.

IN THE AIR TONIGHT: Wicker chairs with sleek black upholstery mix with draped fabric and the night air. Downtown’s and Midtown’s skyscrapers twinkle all around and seem almost close enough to touch.

THINK PINK: The specialty cocktails tend to be on the girly side, with a full list of champagne concoctions and a range of pinkish martinis. “La vie en rose” combines champagne, Grey Goose Citron and raspberry puree for a fruity but surprisingly grown-up taste.

WINE AND DINE: The short wine list offers an appealing mix of French standouts and New World fall-backs, covering a wide price range. Food also ranges from the extravagant to the simple. The $99 seafood platter for four includes oysters, clams, mussels, shrimp and lobster. Or you could just go for the $5 hummus plate.
