Bar Review - Six Feet Under: Grant Park

SIX FEET HIGH AND RISING: When Six Feet Under moved up the block, regulars wereconcernedtheir beloved pub and fish house would lose much of its charm without the worn-in comfort of the original location. But the new digs are a massive improvement. Polished wood stretches as far as the eye can see in the expansive layout, which is less stuffy and more welcoming. But the main attraction is the rooftop deck where you can linger with friends over beers and take in the view of the historic Oakland Cemetery.

NAUTICAL NOSH: Fried seafood here never disappoints. Big baskets of shrimp coated in spiced cornmeal are served with crunchy, freshly fried home-style potato chips, hush puppies and jalapeno tartar sauce. It's hard to resist the starter of "Spicy Rat Toes," baked jalapenos stuffed with a whole shrimp and wrapped in a slice of bacon before being grilled.

"SPIRITS": The seemingly endless drink list has bottled beers, oyster shooters, pitchers of various margaritas, draft beers, wines and a nice selection of after dinner drinks. But nothing is better than a "Ragin' Cajun Mary" — a vibrant concoction of Absolut Peppar and homemade Bloody Mary Mix poured into a glass rimmed with peppered cayenne and salt — to wash down a massive plate of chilled seafood from the raw bar.
