Independent Black Film Festival 2007
First launched in 2003, the INDEPENDENT BLACK FILM FESTIVAL draws inspiration from the late Oscar Micheaux, a prolific author/filmmaker whose early 20th-century films were the first African-American-made movies in history. The festival starts Wed., MARCH 14, and includes a screening of the new Terrence Howard movie, Pride, on Thursday, the world premiere of Positive, local director Ralph Armstead’s short on AIDS, as well as an international competition, filmmakers’ workshops and panel discussions. Through March 18. $10-$149. Times and locations vary. 404-468-3013. www.indieblackfest.org.
