Six ideas for New Year’s Eve

Haven’t made reservations for your New Year’s Eve out on the town yet? It’s time to get on the horn before it’s too late. Following is a diminutive sampling of the special dinners being held in the metro area. These are all restaurants to which I’m personally partial — I’d merrily sip champagne at the stroke of midnight in any of them.

Aria
?A $90-per-person, four-course menu featuring Gerry Klaskala’s savvy New American cooking and Kathyrn King’s exquisite desserts. Look for creations like lobster bisque with lemon-ricotta tortelloni, Maine lobster stuffed with peekeytoe crab and a sweet celebration of citrus that includes lemon cream vacherin with tangerine sorbet and vanilla orange shortbread. Seatings begin at 6 p.m.?
?490 E. Paces Ferry Road. 404-233-7673. www.aria-atl.com.

Asher
?The Fickle Pickle will don its former gastronomic garb as Asher to welcome in the new year. The five-course menu will include lobster ravioli with carrot-ginger sauce, poached beef with foie gras dumplings and chocolate bomb. The $120-per-person price includes wine, tax and gratuity. Seatings at 6:15 and 9 p.m.?
?1085 Canton St., Roswell. 770-650-9838.

Luxe
?Downtown’s best new restaurant will offer two options Dec. 31: A three-course, $45-per-person seating 7-9 p.m. and a five-course, $65-per-person seating 9:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Duck and pomegranate terrine, Dover sole roulades with champagne-caviar cream and chevre cheesecake with jasmine blood oranges are a few of the choices from chef Patti Roth’s menu.?
?89 Park Place. 404-389-0800. www.luxerestaurant.com.

MidCity Cuisine
?Chef/owner Shaun Doty will present a four-course, $65-per-person prix fixe menu featuring brasserie-style dishes such as duck breast with chestnut-honey crepe, and date and pecan salad; cod filet on Pommes Anna with roasted garlic and capers; and rustic apple tart with caramel brittle ice cream. Cost includes champagne toast at midnight and party favors. Seatings begin at 5:30 p.m.?
?1545 Peachtree St., 404-888-8700. www.midcitycuisine.com.

Sia’s
?An $85-per-person, five-course menu will offer a mix of dishes from the restaurant’s Southwestern-Asian fusion menu, as well as special offerings for the occasion. Seatings begin at 5 p.m.?
?10305 Medlock Bridge Road, Duluth, 770-497-9727.

Sotto Sotto
?A $70-per-person, four-course menu will feature seasonal favorites from the menu of Inman Park’s inimitable Italian eatery. Look for specialties such as risotto with caramelized onions and 12-year- old balsamic vinegar; lasagnette alla Bolognese; roasted leg of lamb with rosemary and roasted vegetables; and, of course, chocolate soup. Regulars of this spot know it gets loud in here on busy nights — expect it to be downright cacophonous on New Year’s Eve. Seatings begin at 5:30 p.m.?
?313 N. Highland Ave., 404-523-6678.
