Show Preview: Islands

Sat., July 3

Pop craftsmen Islands shimmer and drift in watercolor depths, carried by burbling synths, summery melodies and idiosyncratic grandeur. Their latest, Vapours, forgoes the overworked prog-pop plumage of 2008’s Arm’s Way, returning to the sweet simplicity and effortless indie-pop warmth of the band’s critically acclaimed 2006 debut. Like frontman Nick Diamonds prior effort, the Unicorns, the misty beauty gilds his lilting tenor and metaphor-rich malaise.
