Time and Place: A torch fest is better than a porch fest
Flaming guitars, Big Bird, and the Pope
? I grew up watching the "Mad Max" movies. I loved them. They were raw and something different when they first came to the big screen. So I was stoked when "Mad Max: Fury Road" was released earlier this year. I saw it and some of my childhood came back to me. I sat watching Max battle it out with Imortan Joe and his War Boys.
?
? The Doof Warrior, played at the Little Five Points Halloween Parade by Rob Thompson, stole this year's event as he put on a one-man rock concert with a flame-throwing guitar. I saw Rob on top of the truck that carried him and I thought that he did a pretty awesome job on his costume. But it wasn't until they turned onto Moreland that I saw the flames shoot from the end of his guitar. I knew at that point that this was the photo that I needed from the Halloween parade.
?
? That's not to say that the rest of the parade wasn't awesome. There were tons of people with amazing costumes both marching in the parade and watching from the sidewalks. Zombies, circus freaks, superheroes, Brazilian dancers, Teletubbies, pirates, more zombies, "Scooby Doo" characters, "Star Wars" characters. Even the Pope had his photo taken with Big Bird.
