Biographer Mark Sheldon talks Mark Twain tonight

Mark Twain once wrote, "When a Library expels a book of mine and leaves an unexpurgated Bible lying around where unprotected youth and age can get hold of it, the deep unconscious irony of it delights me and doesn't anger me."

It's probably been quite awhile since Mark Twain was banned from any library. These days, he's more likely to be celebrated in one. Biographer Michael Sheldon will appear tonight at the Decatur Library Auditorium to read from his new book, just released yesterday, Mark Twain: Man in White: The Grand Adventure of His Final Years. Sheldon, who has previously written biographies on George Orwell and Graham Greene, should lend his sharp eye for insight to this oft-quoted and much admired American subject.
