Consumer advocate pulled over last week in Doraville

The former investigative reporter, U.S. Senate candidate and smokestack sitta was picked up by Doraville cops last week. From the AJC:

Cardwell was pulled over just after midnight on June 3 at the intersection of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Motor Drive, Doraville police spokesman Officer Gene Callaway told the AJC.

"What caught the officer's eye, is (Cardwell) sat through a green light," Callaway said.

Cops arrested the muckraker after he remembered his rights and refused to take a Breathalyzer test. (Which kind of sounds like the badass thing a former investigative reporter knows he or she could do if they were accused of driving under the influence.)

Most recently, Cardwell's been working on Trust Dale, a new consumer advocacy website and TV show on 11 Alive.

UPDATE: Cardwell tells Rodney Ho:

“I have great respect and a proven track record for law enforcement...In this situation, I believe they got it wrong.”
