Review: Tom Simmons' Keep Up
Tom Simmons, the former Atlantan, and winner of the 2009 San Francisco International Stand-Up Comedy Competition, recently released his newest comedy CD, Keep Up. On the record, which is a mixture of live recordings from Simmons' 2009 performances in Cincinnati and Minneapolis (but was produced, edited and engineered at Atlanta's Patchworld Productions), Simmons displays the unconventional thinking and unparalleled writing skills that have made him an industry favorite for more than a decade. Never lazily accepting the status quo, or shying away from society's perceived sacred cows, Simmons takes the listener on a hilariously thoughtful ride as he explores, explains and expounds upon everything from Barack Obama's presidency and the Federal Reserve, to dogfighting, censorship and people who wear socks with sandals.
