After a quiet month at City Hall, Mayor Kasim Reed will kick off 2014 with a series of events to mark the start of his second and final term in office.

Reed, who last November cruised to victory against three underdog opponents, plans to take his of oath of office and give his second inauguration speech on Monday afternoon at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center.

The Atlanta City Council on Monday will also be sworn into office for the upcoming four-year term. Following the ceremonies, councilmembers plan to head back to City Hall at 4 p.m. for its first meeting of 2014. Council President Ceasar Mitchell will make committee assignments and the entire body will vote on a new president pro tempore for the upcoming year. They’ll be joined by newly-elected Councilmembers Andre Dickens, who is replacing former Councilman H. Lamar Willis, and Mary Norwood, who defeated Aaron Watson to reclaim her citywide council seat after a four-year hiatus.

Aside from the inauguration, Reed, Council, and other city staffers have scheduled a day of community service to spruce up Washington Park, an interfaith worship service, and a citizen’s reception. We’ve included event details after the jump.
