Two suspects nabbed in alleged opiate theft, hostage attempt, death threat at Ponce Kroger

Atlanta Police have arrested two people who allegedly robbed the Kroger pharmacy on Ponce de Leon Avenue, took a hostage, and made a death threat.
Around 5:45 p.m. yesterday, APD says 21-year-old Atlanta resident Allison Slaton entered the Poncey-Highland grocery store commonly known as "Murder Kroger" and slid a pharmacy employee a note that read: "Put your hands up on the counter where I can see them. Relax. Be quiet. Do not alert security. Cooperate and no one will get hurt. Put all your money and opiates in this bag. My associate is somewhere in the store with a hostage. If you do not comply with these wishes he will kill them."
After stalling for several minutes, the pharmacy employee opened the cash register and handed over $463. Slaton, who took back the ransom note, placed the cash in a Kroger bag, and took off toward the Atlanta Beltline toward Ponce City Market's construction site.
"The female was described as being possibly in her early 20's, fair complexion, about 5'6" and slim, wearing a blue hood with the hood up, a yellow plaid scarf covering her face and large black framed glasses, black pants, and a black tote bag," APD spokesman Gregory Lyon tells CL.
APD officers also learned from eye witnesses that Slaton had entered Ford Factory Lofts. Once they identified her exact location, authorities obtained a search warrant that led to Slaton's arrest. Twenty-two-year-old Atlanta resident Carolinna Bastos was also taken into custody.
Slaton was charged with single counts of robbery, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of heroin. APD hit Bastos with one count of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of heroin.
Both Slaton and Bastos remain booked at Fulton County Jail.
