Huzzahs are in order! CL last night took home two top honors at the Atlanta Press Club's Awards of Excellence ceremony.
Photo Editor Joeff Davis won his second APC photography award for his photo essay about Peachtree Street and pictures of a needle-exchange program in English Avenue, among other strong images. Staff Writer Max Blau won for his in-depth three-part series on Grady Memorial Hospital, profile of Atlanta developer Jeff Fuqua, and look at the Atlanta Braves' decision to move to the suburbs.
Also deserving recognition: CL Culture Editor Wyatt Williams was a finalist in the APC's "Rising Star" category for his mammoth look at Big Chicken, the ATL Twins, and southern food. Staff writer Rodney Carmichael was also a finalist for his commentary about Georgia State University's proposed white student union, a historic church that happened to be in the way of a stadium, and the city's street vendors.
We're proud of all four of 'em. Next time you see any of these wonderful people, please purchase them a beverage. Or just leave your congratulations in the comments.
