Creative Loafing’s new Culture Editor is Gavin Godfrey

Annnd, a couple of promotions!

Image I’m happy to announce today that Gavin Godfrey will be taking over as CL’s new Culture Editor, effective immediately. Gavin’s currently our associate ops editor, helping run the copy desk and managing our Do Good initiative, in addition to writing like a madman. Over the last few months, he’s written about Raury, Miloh Smith, and Jarren Benton for the music issue; made a case for MLS in ATL; and celebrated Stankonia’s 20th. Prior to coming to CL, Gavin worked for four years at CNN, and spent a few years before that at Rolling Out (Atlanta and Chicago pubs).

From Gavin: “Next to my family, friends, and pitbull Kayla, Atlanta is the love of my life. From Major League Soccer’s forthcoming arrival and OutKast making a triumphant return, to ATL’s thriving visual arts and creative communities, there’s an undeniable energy here. I hope that as Culture Editor I can bridge some gaps and connect the dots to keep Creative Loafing going as one of the great curators of ATL’s culture.”

I’m thrilled to be able to promote from within.

Speaking of promotions, in other newsroom news today, Alicia Carter has been promoted to Managing Editor, Stephanie Dazey to Food Editor, and Rodney Carmichael to Senior Writer.
