First Slice 3-27-12: George Zimmerman: I’m the good guy, Trayvon Martin’s the bad guy

The good news is, I’m going to win the lottery tonight

1. Despite a recorded 911 call and witness accounts to the contrary, George Zimmerman decided to tell police that 17-year-old Trayvon Martin attacked him first, approaching him from behind as he attempted to walk back to his vehicle. From the AP: “The two exchanged words, Zimmerman said, and Martin then punched him, jumped on top of him and began banging his head on a sidewalk. Zimmerman said he began crying for help; Martin’s family thinks it was their son who was crying out. Witness accounts differ and 911 tapes in which the voices are heard are not clear.” There are two sides to every story, except when one of the people involved is dead and can’t tell theirs.
Meanwhile, thousands gathered at the Capitol Monday evening to protest Georgia’s “Stand Your Ground Law” in Martin’s name. Photos on Fresh Loaf soon.

2. Guess I have to start deciding how I’ll spend $363 million. For starters, I’m basically going to use this site like it’s Amazon.com.

3. Tim Tebow is really “excited” about being a Jet. Times 44.

4. In West End, witnesses say a man badly beat a woman with the butt of a shotgun before running her over with a blue Ford Focus that had a dead body inside of it. The woman is in serious condition, but was able to identify the man. He apparently called to onlookers that the woman had killed someone (which would explain the dead body in the car). I just don’t even know.
