Omnivore - Three feast on Buford Highway for $42
At the new Bamboo Grill and Hot Pot Restaurant
We dined tonight with our friend Rose D’Agostino at the latest VFF (Vietnamese Foodie Find), Bamboo Grill and Hot Pot, where we encountered the BSE (Best Server Ever), Linda.
Linda insisted that we order this dish (above) of seafood, veggies and rice cooked in a clay pot with fish sauce. She said it — #28 on the menu — is the restaurant’s most popular dish. It was indeed delicious, down to every last caramelized, crunchy grain of rice. At $7.50, it’s a colossal bargain.
We ordered it along with the restaurant’s special rice paper rolls (right) filled with cigarette-sized fried spring rolls, herbs, pork and shrimp. Dip ‘em in mango sauce.
We also feasted on the signature hot pot dish, Lau Thailand, a tom-yum-like soup featuring strong chicken broth, seafood and lots of aromatic herbs and vegetables. The dish is prepared at the table.
The cost for this huge meal? $42 for three. The restaurant, open about two weeks, is located at 4646 Buford Hwy. (678-580-1727). Look for more details in “Grazing” later this week.
