Omnivore - Looking for lunch downtown?
Try the moussaka at The Greek inside Sweet Auburn Curb Market
If you're downtown and looking for a great lunch this week, here's a suggestion: the moussaka (above) at The Greek Gyros & Pizza inside the Sweet Auburn Curb Market. No, it's not the prettiest presentation ever, but my serving of it last week took me by surprise.
The eggplant was not (as usual elsewhere) overcooked, the potatoes were fluffy, the ground meat flavorful and grease-free, the bechamel smooth. I've craved it ever since I ate the $8.95 dish.
Owner Johnny Gianoulidis, who is related to the owners of Athens Pizza and Christos Pizza, says the moussaka (and the pastitsio) are made for him by an outside cook.
Wayne ordered the chicken kabob , two skewers with salad on the side — also delicious and only $6.95. The desserts ain't bad, either.
