Omnivore - Reader spots Joel Antunes in London
Former Atlanta chef opens new restaurant
I mentioned Joel Antunes in my "Grazing" column this week. The much-missed French chef left Atlanta after closing Joel Brasserie, which has now become Local Three. Antunes went to New York first but has since moved on to London.
Reader Elizabeth Etoll reports on dining at the new Brasserie Joel:
Hi, Cliff, I was in London last month. Whilst in Waterloo Station, I
noticed a poster advertising "Brasserie Joel" with a photo of Chef
Joel. So, I found my way to his space, which is simply stunning and
in a new hotel, which opened this past March.
As I mentioned to the waiter that I was from Atlanta, Chef came out to
greet me and sat and visited for a good ten or more minutes. He's
very charming! What can I say?
Where was I? Seriously, he wanted to dish about what's new in Atlanta
and said that he missed it. He is opening in January in Hong Kong.
Dinner was very good, spent about $55 (that was a prix fixe pre-
theatre dinner). Could have spent lots more. I'll go back next April.
Can you believe that I made hotel reservations during the week of
April 25th, which now turns out to be The Royal Wedding time? What
good fortune!
