Why do they still suck so bad?
As much as it’s been said here and elsewhere, there’s no sign that restaurant websites are getting any better. Yesterday, Slate went one step further that the rest of us, moving beyond bitching and digging into the reasons why restaurant websites generally suck. A couple of interesting theories come up in the article, for example:
But the best answer I found was this: Restaurant sites are the product of restaurant culture. These nightmarish websites were spawned by restaurateurs who mistakenly believe they can control the online world the same way they lord over a restaurant.
Huh. Chefs? Egos? Naaa....
