Omnivore - Brazilian without skewered meats

A visit to Botekim Brazilian Bistro

As you know, a considerable chunk of the Marietta area is turning into Brazil. One of the latest restaurants to open is Botekin Brazilian Bistro, which I visited with my Friday night dining pals last week.

We had a terrific meal. The restaurant is located in a vacated fast-food venue but the well-pedigreed chef/owner Alex DeGrossi is offering a menu unique in the Atlanta area. DeGrossi calls his menu "comfort food" and, believe me, it's a welcome break from the churrascarias — Brazilian steak houses — that have popped up everywhere.

I was sorry to see that feijoada is not on the menu, but it is available at brunch on Sundays. And the daily evening menu is awesome, anyway.

The restaurant, about which I'll say more in this week's "Grazing," is absolutely worth a trip from the big city to the hinterland beyond I-285.
