Quick Bites: BGR: The Burger Joint opens in Atlantic Station, Killer Tomatoes, VILLAINS, and more

Chef Angus Brown announced that he will be leaving Octopus Bar in January 2013 to hone his culinary skills in Asia. According to Atlanta magazine Brown is currently searching for another chef — who will most likely come from out of town — to fill his position while he's away.

Rumor has it 'Southern speakeasy' and underground supper club PushStart Kitchen is on the real estate hunt for a restaurant space. PushStart began their search last week in Va. Highland, Poncey Highland, and Inman Park.

Chef Ford Fry will be hosting the fourth annual JCT. Kitchen Attack of the Killer Tomato Festival on Sunday, July 22 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The festival celebrates some of the South’s best chefs, farmers and mixologists, to benefit Georgia Organics.

BGR: The Burger Joint is now open in Atlantic Station located in the space formerly occupied by Doc Green’s. BGR is known for its natural, grain-fed, dry aged beef grilled on an open flame. It also offers turkey, lamb, tuna and veggie burgers along with old-fashioned floats, shakes and a variety of fries with toppings.

Grindhouse Killer Burgers announced that it will be collaborating with chefs Jared Lee and Jason McClure (formerly of Flip and HD1) on a new sandwich shop concept called VILLAINS. A physical location for the project has yet to be confirmed.

White Oak Pastures, a grass-fed beef and lamb and free-range pastured poultry farm in Bluffton, Ga., announced the opening of Pasture to Plate, its new on-farm restaurant. Pasture to Plate offers the farm’s employees a place to eat their breakfast and lunch and also provides an eatery for visitors to the farm.

UrbanDaddy reports that French restaurant F & B, a reincarnation of the former French American Brasserie (F.A.B.) will have a soft opening on Monday. F & B plans to serve lunch and dinner at the Ritz Carlton Residences in Buckhead.

Food Truck Tuesdays are on at Taylor Brawner Park in Smyrna and will be held every Tuesday in the park from 6-9 p.m. A portion of the proceeds from Smyrna Food Truck Tuesdays will benefit the Smyrna Education Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit aimed at promoting the city’s public schools.
